You will not find truth with the burn-the-heretic approach observable in places like the Bad Astronomy and Universe Today forum; you will only alienate those with whom you communicate, and hopefully you don't talk to people you meet in the real world like this. Were I to even go to the theorists by now and explain to them that you wanted to know these things, most of them would tell me to ignore you and all of the other pseudo-skeptics. People who reserve all of their skepticism for against-the-mainstream ideas should be left alone to believe what they are so hell-bent on believing. The scientific term is called "motivated reasoning". It's not how science should be done. Science is about building relationships, keeping an open mind, reading as much as you can about the various theories, and waiting until you've actually learned a theory to compare and contrast it with those you already understand. You've not done any of this.
