Depending on his subtype, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma is potentially curable. The most common NHL is diffuse large b-cell lymphoma. It's aggressive, but curable if caught early enough--and often curable even in late stages. Follicular lymphoma is the second most common NHL. It cannot be cured, but progresses very slowly and can be sent into remission for many years. It's not unheard of for patients to live for 10+ years with this lymphoma.Lymphoma overall has a relatively good prognosis compared to many other cancers--notably including Steve Jobs's pancreatic cancer. So you'd rather pay the much higher costs associated with actually having a kid, possibly followed by years of subsidies for food, schooling, and if we're lucky, prison? We're not talking about upper middle class suburbanites who already have insurance. We need FEWER people in this world. Unless you're just looking for cannon fodder.!

Precisely - these people who constantly go on about illegal immigration never talk about the possibility of expanding legal immigration. But hey, if it were easier for immigrants to come here legally, that'd just be letting more foreigners in, while restricting anyone's ability to oppose it without looking like a total *****. It's easy to complain about smelly foreigners when you can hide behind the banner of "Oh, I'm just upset with them because they came here illegally." You take that away, and these people will have to admit their true intentions. |
