Collectors editions are just that: for people who collect video games, or have a particular interest in a series. I would agree it seems rather absurd for a game with no prior established base to have one, in which case I might call it a special edition instead, but again the emphasis is on people who want to collect video games and video game memorabilia. I have a friend who will buy copies of a game on any platform it's on because he's a collector of video games. He bought the Hardened edition of MW2 for PS3, and the Prestige edition for the 360.But yeah, overall the article is right. To me, the Prestige edition of MW2 was worth it, so I bought it, and I'm happy with it. I also bought the collectors edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum, and ended up being very disappointed with it, as the quality of the items inside was very sub par. I ended up selling the map codes, and plan on possibly selling the Batarang replica it came with.I think Atlas does some of the best collectors/special editions around. Their release for BlazBlue earlier this year came with the game, sound track, and a DVD that went over all the character's moves and various combos plus strategies. All of that for $60, and once the initial batch was gone, that was it.
Pics or GTFO.

“Heh, the "per person" argument misses corporate taxes and factors in payroll taxes that don't exist. It averages to $40b per year. 40 billion. That's not a lot of money compared to trillion or so we budget every single year. Put it in some perspective. And it's not like we're throwing that money away, we'd be spending it within an economy that can return it in the form of taxes and increased science, research and tech job growth.

We should remember that Microsoft is a preditory company and will do and say anything to get what it wants and then try to make it its own standard and charge everyone out the ass for it. Microsoft has proven it can not be trusted, so I don't.?

It's always been funny to me that the Government thinks because they ban something,. it will magically go away for good. As if the people who want it won't create a black market for it, .or they won't figure out how to blend caffeine and alcohol together themselves. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in some alternate flipped upside down reality, where all the stupid people are in charge.I also sometimes think they are looking to ban something new so they can keep our private prison systems profitable,. you know,. after we legalize weed and release all those poor bastards who got caught doing something the President did. |
