| If you don't personally know Kevin Rose, why would you want to "hang out" with him? What makes you think he'd even want to talk to you? That's a very creepy and somewhat stalkerish idea. |

I've never seen Seattle in rain before.
I believe that's from The Aristocats, considering Lady and the Tramp was about dogs....

Got it, thanks pln2bz ... you will continue to make claims that are false - and can be shown to be false, objectively - in order to promote a bunch of ideas whose principal proponents no longer publish those ideas in relevant, peer-reviewed journals.Re: "Science is about building relationships, keeping an open mind, reading as much as you can about the various theories, and waiting until you've actually learned a theory to compare and contrast it with those you already understand": Funny that, I thought science was about formulating hypotheses to *quantitatively* test various aspects of theories (or models), making astronomical observations (or conducting experiments) accordingly, and publishing your results so everyone can see what you did, how you did it, and where it all fits. But even within your own framework ("reading as much as you can about the various theories"), there's a serious problem ... the "various theories" (EU ones) are nowhere to be found! For example, where is EMOND published (the theory that is, not some calorie-free word salad )?So, to answer my questions (above):In which of Peratt's papers, on simulations of galaxy formation, is a description of how gravity is simulated to be found? There are no such papers.Does Thornhill propose any testable hypotheses of EMOND? No.Did Lerner and Peratt write papers on the synchrotron radiation expected to be observed from Birkeland currents in plasma filaments? Yes, several ... but their models are inconsistent with observations (i.e. the synchrotron radiation expected has not been observed, ergo, the Birkeland currents do not exist, or do not behave per Lerner and Peratt's models). Can Verschuur's HI-CMB features "associations" be independently verified? The claims can be independently checked ... and the "associations" shown - objectively - to not exist..
The view from inside the fog is terrible.!

Actually, the articles I've seen about the upcoming Warren Spector 'Epic Mickey' make reference that they're going back to the early incarnations of Mickey as more of a daredevil/clown/mischief-maker as oppsoed to the more solemn 'host' role he's been used in for decades.

Always liked Nick Xenophon, he's a good guy. I may not agree with everything he says (I doubt there's a single politician in the world I agree with 100%), but he's definitely doing a good job. He's very well liked by most people in Adelaide, he's done well as an independent considering Australia is as much of a two party system as the USA (Labor/Liberal, similar to Democrats/Republicans).This just gives me even more respect for the guy.All hail Xeno-phon! :)

The main thing the Libertarian opposition to Net Neutrality is afraid of is government intervention. But what many of them either don't realize or refuse to acknowledge is that there isn't a free market in broadband ISPs, so that can't fix it. And even if we were to remove all of the exclusivity contracts that ban competition, how long would it be until we saw some viable competition? And what of the rural areas of the nation where there probably would be no competition? Should they be doomed to service by *****, non-neutral ISPs?Personally, I think the proposed rules are a good thing, especially the one which states that the ISP must be forthcoming and transparent with its network management policies, informing customers as to when they will kick in, and what they entail. I don't want to try and go to NewEgg only to find out that my ISP signed a deal with TigerDirect making them the "Preferred" computer equipment provider. |
