For once, I agree with a lot of these choices, but maybe not the order. Also: Heath Ledger from Broke Back Mountain made this list but not his performance as the Joker? WTF?

The problem with everyone should have, is who is going to pay for it, certainly not the gov, they can not even pay for their obligations now to medicare and social security which they admit are in the negative now and in a few more years will have no money. Those are only two areas what about all the rest the gov owes to other countries including interest of billions of dollars, and other programs. We now have 10.2% unemployment and the dollar has slipped 16% against other currency. Now they want to fix health care, and instead of just regulating insurance companies so they give everyone a fair deal, they want to change everything so everyone has no choice but to get covered all the while promising prices will not go up but anyone listening to their plans know the opposite is true, the gov never does anything without their being something in it for them. could it be more tax revenue to help them lower the deficit, If they were truly in health care reform for altruistic reasons they would only fix what needs fixing which is insurance practices and competitiveness, what they would not be doing is dictating to people that they had to get insurance and adding more gov bureaucracy..
Biden came off as friendly and informed, a seasoned politician who can laugh at himself... good move!

Personally, I wouldn't mind paying 1-to-5% more in taxes if the sole reason for it would to be fund manned Mars missions.?

You've got it mixed up a bit. The technology referenced in the article IS a pebble-bed reactor, or at least a version of one. PBRs don't "automatically cool down", and the fuel pellets certainly don't "move apart". PBRs are inherently safer than traditional reactors, because the reaction is self-modulating. It cannot melt down, because as the heat rises, the reaction slows due to doppler broadening, and the temperature comes back down. It is not possible for the temperature to rise above the melting point of the graphite containers. |
