“I am also more concerned about the trade deficit, but the amount we owe to our own citizens is still a huge problem. It's tempting to think that it's not a big deal because the debt we owe won't leave the country, but that's not the whole picture. The whole picture is that our government has already spent a ***** load of money that it borrowed from many of us. Which means that despite the already high taxes we pay, the government still has to borrow from us. At some point, not only will we have to raise taxes in order to stop borrowing money, we'll have to raise them even further to pay off the money we already borrowed. So we each owe around $20,000 to pay off some other citizen who has treasury bills. Sure, I'd rather pay $20,000 to a fellow citizen, but it still sucks that I have to pay someone $20,000.

Who pays to park at the Zoo? Just park for free somewhere along Forest Park..
One thing to remember about our national debt is that most of it is owed-by AND owned-to our own citizens. That's not to say that I don't have concerns about our fiscal future. The biggest concern I have is how much we owe China & Japan. About 25% of our national debt is owed to other countries. Many of these countries have managed to exploit our so-called "Free trade" agreements by selling us goods but not buying anything back from us. That's why we have a $800 billion per year trade deficit. Frankly, I agree with Warren Buffet when I say that I'm more concerned about our trade deficit than our national debt. Our trade deficit is what made foreign ownership of our debts possible.!

Kids have always been stupid and have always done ***** like this. They just didn't have the option of creating a video and making it public. A gun is not an appropriate response to a bunch of kids trying to cause mayhem. An ass beating? That's warranted. Pulling a gun is a bit over the top.?

First off, my post wasn't advocating for or against public healthcare. My point was purely that IF we have public health care this should be part of it. It should also be part of private insuarance, as well. If either public or private insurance is inflated unneccessarily in any way, we should try to reduce the inflation. This is one way of doing so.But since you asked, it's particularly clear that health care costs in countries with UHC are NOT inflated, at least compared to us. Every year, America spends far more money per person on health care than any other country, and in exchange we have one of the lowest average life expectancies in the developed world. |
